During wood cutting, it is always essential to have a device to hold the workpiece firmly and evenly to the fence. It will eliminate stock chattering, ensure cutting quality and most importantly protect your fingers from being damaged. However, most of the devices on the market (such as the feather boards) cannot handle this job ideally for the purposes. They either cannot provide enough holding pressure to the stock, or cannot provide even pressure to the stock. Also their installations and adjustment are not user-friendly.
We are excited to introduce the brand new Compass Universal Roller Guide which will act as an ideal workpiece holder for safety and quality cutting. Harvey Compass Roller Guides have two models RG-1 and RG-2 for different thickness ranges of stocks.
Each Compass Roller Guide features two guiding rollers to hold the workpiece during cutting. Obviously the two rollers make hand feeding much more comfortable compared to the feather boards with sliding frictions. Also the two rollers are riding on 2 One-way bearings which have much bigger reverse resistance to reduce the risk of kickbacks. The unique Independent Suspension Mechanism (ISM) enables the two rollers to keep even vertical pressure to the workpiece during cutting, this will greatly prevent work piece chattering. Moreover, the holding force is infinitely adjustable (15 – 22lbs / 70 – 100N) through an intuitive adjusting knob which gives you the optimized holding force for different cutting scenarios. The RG-1 and RG-2 Roller Guides are greatly versatile for different applications such as table saw cuttings, bandsaw cuttings, router table cuttings and shaper cuttings.
